560 scenic acres along the Patuxent River in Calvert County, Maryland, more than 65 identified archaeological sites, an​d 9,000 years of documented human occupation. 

Jefferson Patterson Park & Museum (JPPM) is a place full of secrets waiting to be unearthed. Whether you come to hike our miles of trails, explore our Visitor Center full of interactive exhibits, or enjoy one of our educational programs or events, you will leave with a greater appreciation for the land and the people who once lived here. JPPM is also the home of the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory (MAC Lab), which houses over 8 million artifacts.

Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum connects people to the past through history and archaeology and supports the preservation of Maryland's cultural and natural resources. 


SITE/ROAD CLOSURE INFORMATION

Beginning Monday, May 13, 2024:

  • Access south of the Pavilion will be limited due to MAC Lab construction.
  • Authorized vehicles ONLY on w​eekdays.
  • On weekends, please follow posted instructions.
  • Pedestrians should follow all posted detour signage.​

MAC Lab public tours are on hold during the lab expansion project, slated to run from May 2024 to September 2025. Tours will resume in late 2025.​
