Research Library

Small end table with blue armchairs on either side of it. The chairs and tables are placed in front of shelves of books.

The JPPM Research Library holds one of the region’s largest reference collections on the archaeology and history of Maryland and the Middle Atlantic area. We have over 14,000 references dealing with such topics as Native American life, the identification and conservation of artifacts and antiques, agricultural history, historic buildings, museum studies, and archaeology around the world. Many of our books and journals are rare and would be hard to find at other libraries.

Although the Research Library cannot lend books, we encourage its use by scholars and members of the general public. Students will find our holdings particularly useful for research papers. The Library is located at the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory.

The MAC Lab, including the research library, is currently closed to the public for construction.
