Research Library

The JPPM Research Library holds one of the region’s largest reference collections on the archaeology and history of Maryland and the Middle Atlantic area. We have over 14,000 references dealing with such topics as Native American life, the identification and conservation of artifacts and antiques, agricultural history, historic buildings, museum studies, and archaeology around the world. Many of our books and journals are rare and would be hard to find at other libraries.

Although the Research Library cannot lend books, we encourage its use by scholars and members of the general public. Students will find our holdings particularly useful for research papers. The Library is located at the Maryland Archaeological Conservation Laboratory and is open during the Lab’s hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00 to 5:00.  For an appointment, contact Patricia Samford at 410-586-8551 or email: patricia.samford@maryland.gov.
